In short: Kingtide is a strength training app that runs on your phone. Your training data stays on your device: your profile, your injuries, your logged lifts. We have no accounts and never ask for your email. What does leave your phone is a small amount of anonymous usage and crash data, and your subscription status if you buy Pro. You can switch the usage data off in Profile at any time. If you choose to connect Apple Health or Health Connect, your finished sessions are shared with that app on your own phone, and never with us.
Kingtide is built and operated by Kayiita Johansson, an individual based in Oakland, California, USA. Kingtide is not a registered corporation; it is operated as a sole-proprietor product. References to "we", "us", and "our" mean Kayiita Johansson acting in that capacity.
This policy covers the Kingtide mobile app and this website.
Kingtide stores the following in the app's own storage on your device. None of it is transmitted to us, and we have no way to see it.
Some of this is personal and health-related information. We are naming it explicitly rather than claiming the app collects nothing, because it is real data about you. It simply never leaves your device. If you uninstall the app, it is gone. You can also clear it from the Profile screen without uninstalling.
The one thing that can move off this list is a finished session, and only if you connect a health app yourself. That still stays on your phone, and it still never reaches us. Section 4 says exactly what is shared and what is not.
The injuries you flag and the physio exercises you enter are health-related information about you, so it is worth being direct about what happens to them and what this app is.
No clinician ever sees what you enter. Your injury notes and your PT plan stay on your device. No doctor, physical therapist, or anyone at Kingtide reads them, checks them, or signs off on them. Nothing you type here is reviewed by a person.
Kingtide is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or a physical therapist. It is a fitness tool. When you flag an injury it swaps or lightens exercises using general programming rules. It cannot examine you, it does not know what is actually wrong with you, and an adjustment it makes is not a sign that training is safe for you.
Talk to a qualified professional about an injury, before you start and especially before training through one. If a doctor or physical therapist has given you guidance, theirs governs, not the app's. The PT and photo-import features simply record what you enter; Kingtide does not review, verify, or approve those exercises. Stop and seek medical attention if you feel pain, dizziness, or anything else that feels wrong.
The fuller health and safety terms are in section 3 of our Terms of Service.
If you photograph a workout or physio sheet, Kingtide reads the text using on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit, bundled into the app). The photo and the text pulled out of it never leave your phone. Nothing is uploaded, and no image is sent to us or to any third party for processing.
Kingtide can connect to the health app already on your phone: Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. This is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off again at any time on the Profile screen.
This is a connection between two apps on your device. It is not a transfer to us. Nothing described in this section goes to a Kingtide server, because there is no Kingtide server. We cannot see any of it.
When you finish a session, Kingtide saves it as a workout: the activity type, when it started and ended, and, when nothing else has already recorded that stretch of time, an energy figure. It does not write your sets, your reps, your loads, your injuries, or your physical therapy plan. If you connect after you have already trained, Kingtide offers to save your earlier sessions across too, so your history is not left with a gap.
You can hold a single session back without disconnecting. The recap screen has a switch for exactly that.
Over the window a session occupied, Kingtide reads the heart rate and energy your watch recorded, so your recap can show them. It also reads your body weight, because starting loads are scaled from it and a figure typed once during onboarding goes stale.
These numbers are stored on your device alongside that session, the same as everything else in section 1. We never see them. Kingtide measures none of them itself: it shows what the health app hands it, or it shows nothing. It does not estimate calories and does not guess a heart rate.
On Android, Kingtide also asks for permission to read data older than thirty days. Health Connect otherwise limits every app to the last thirty, which would silently cut off your body weight history and leave older sessions without the heart rate they actually had. Declining it costs you that history and nothing else.
Three things, none of which carry your name or email, because we never collect either.
We use PostHog (servers in the United States) to understand whether the app works: whether people finish a first session, whether they come back, whether they reach the paywall. PostHog generates a random identifier stored on your device so repeat opens can be counted as the same person. That identifier is not your name, your email, or anything you typed, but it is a persistent identifier, so we are calling it what it is.
Only named events are sent, such as: completing onboarding, starting or finishing a workout, logging an injury, adding a PT plan, seeing the paywall, and starting, completing or restoring a purchase.
What is never sent: your profile, your injury notes, your PT plan contents, and the actual weights and reps you log. Screen recording and session replay are switched off in the app's configuration, not merely unused.
You can turn analytics off entirely with the switch on the Profile screen. The app works exactly the same with it off.
We use Sentry to receive diagnostics when the app crashes or hits an error: the technical details of the failure, the app version, and the device model. Sentry's option to attach personally identifying request data is disabled in our configuration.
If you buy Kingtide Pro, we use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. Being straightforward about what this means:
When you look up how to perform an exercise, Kingtide opens YouTube search results inside the app. Loading that view means YouTube receives a request from your device and applies its own privacy policy and cookies. We do not receive what you searched for or watched. If you would rather not touch YouTube, do not open the video view.
The invite flow hands off to your phone's own share sheet. You choose the app and the recipient. We do not see who you shared with, and no contact list is read.
Kingtide does not currently have accounts. There is no sign-in, no password, and no point at which the app asks for your email address. Your data is tied to your phone, not to a login.
We are describing how the app works today rather than making a permanent promise. If we ever add accounts or sync, that would change what we hold about you, and we would update this policy and say what changed before the change took effect. See section 12.
Kingtide is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will remove it.
| You want to | How |
|---|---|
| Stop usage analytics | Turn the analytics switch off on the Profile screen. |
| Stop sharing with Apple Health or Health Connect | Disconnect on the Profile screen. To hold back a single session instead, use the switch on that session's recap. |
| Remove workouts already saved to a health app | Delete them inside Apple Health or Health Connect. Kingtide cannot reach them once written. |
| Delete your training data | Reset from the Profile screen, or uninstall the app. Both remove it from the device. |
| Cancel your subscription | Through your Apple or Google store account, as described in the Terms. |
| Ask us anything about your data | Email info@trykingtide.com. |
Because your training data lives on your device and is not sent to us, we cannot look it up, export it, or delete it on your behalf. You already hold the only copy.
We may update this policy as the app changes. If we make a material change, particularly one that means new information leaves your device, we will update the effective date above and surface the change in the app before it takes effect.
